“Don’t be alone, stay involved with people, get out of your house, do something, just don’t sit there. When you go from doing whatever you want to do, to not being able to do anything, then everyday is like a new learning day. Everyday I can do something I couldn’t do yesterday. Like now my new thing is I can walk without this crutch.

“I got BB through Mary Cortani’s program, Operation Freedom Paws. BB blocks people so they don’t get too close to me. In addition to the dog training, the camaraderie of being with all the other veterans there that have service dogs – for me that’s a very important thing.”
